About Us

Downshire Camping and Caravans are a family run business whose origins can be traced back to Thomas Preston founding a small grocery outlet in the early 1900’s. From this simple beginning the business flourished into a thriving retail business with four retail outlets. His son Thomas Andrew Preston loved the outdoors, particularly camping and caravanning and in the late 50’s this prompted him to start up Downshire Camping, supplying the biggest range of tents and camping equipment Northern Ireland could offer. In 1958 the company was incorporated and with continued growth soon added caravans to its product offering. In turn Thomas Preston’s two sons Andrew and Michael joined the business which has run successfully for the past 60 years.

Andrew and Michael stepped back to enjoy their retirement in 2018 and the fourth generation of the family Louise Preston has now moved forward with Downshire Camping and Caravans Ltd, prompting their relocation to the idyllic country setting just outside Waringstown, where they continue to trade on decades of experience offering customers, old and new, a quality service and back-up on all products.

 As dealers for Elddis, Xplore Buccaneer, Hobby and Weinsberg caravans, Downshire Camping and Caravans provide a variety of products to suit all needs and budgets, from two berth touring caravans, to luxury four berth with fixed beds, family caravans with bunk beds for the kids or large semi-residential caravans which can be delivered anywhere in Ireland to put on site for the season. Our dedicated team can offer advice on choosing the right caravan to make your family holiday special and are always on hand to offer back-up and support.

Our in-house workshop provides servicing, repairs and warranty work and are always on hand to offer help and advice.
